Entertainment
Oktoberfest Brisbane 2011 offers a feast of great entertainment options that are sure to appeal to both the young and the young at heart. Grab your family and make a day out of it. Or meet up with friends for a leisurely weekend brunch or a fun-filled dinner out.
Oktoberfest Brisbane is the nearest you will get to experiencing a real, authentic German folk festival without actually being in Germany.
In 2011, we have an even bigger Oktoberfest tent, inspiring our visitors to dance, sing and schunkeln* the days and nights away.
Our fabulous beer garden set under the boughs of the majestic Moreton Bay fig trees is the perfect place to delight in Brisbane’s spring weather. It’s the perfect place to relax at a table and enjoy the sounds of the band drifting out, while at night the atmosphere becomes even more magical thanks to the twinkling fairy lights.
You can expect all the crowd favourites from last year to be back again, plus even more great activities and entertainment. Here are some of the highlights:
- Our Oktoberfest Oompah band will be flying in directly from Germany to keep everyone singing and dancing to traditional and modern hits
- Expect traditional German dancing and cow bell ringing from the popular Alpenrosen
- Watch or take part in our Miss Oktoberfest and Bavarian Strongman" competitions, which are packed full of thrills and laughter
- Our yodeling “Heidi” will entertain you as well as uncovering the audience’s hidden yodeling talents
- Julia’s traditional puppet theatre is a huge hit with the kids
- Plus there are rides, face painting and other fun activities for the whole family
* Schunkeln is what everyone does at German folk festivals. Sitting on benches, you link arms with those on your left and right, and sway and sing along to the music.
