About Oktoberfest
This year marks the 201st anniversary of the original Munich Oktoberfest, which is cause to celebrate for Oktoberfest organisers all over the world. However, here in Brisbane, we have our own Oktoberfest milestones to celebrate. Oktoberfest Brisbane is already Queensland's biggest and most authentic Oktoberfest event, but we’re hoping that our 2011 event will be so successful that we’ll become known as the biggest Oktoberfest event in Australia.
Our Oktoberfest Brisbane 2011 event stretches over two fabulous long weekends in October (October 7 to 9 and October 14 to 16) and honours the traditions, entertainment and distinctive food and beverages that personify a classic German folk festival.
As in past years, this wonderful cultural event celebrates the best of German and Australian culture, while attracting some wonderful corporate sponsors. The festival offers an array of traditional German delights, including fabulous food and drinks, plus competitions, activities and some very unique entertainment, from Oompah bands and yodeling to costumed dancers and cow bell ringers.
Our central location at the RNA Showgrounds ensures the event is easily accessible by both car and public transport, and the majestic Moreton Bay Figs at the grounds add their own uniquely Brisbane flavour to the event.
We attribute much of the ever-increasing success of Oktoberfest Brisbane to our festival’s high standards, authenticity, fun, family-friendly atmosphere, great activities and entertainment, and excellent range of traditional German food and drinks. Plus, every year we add more things to our program and make valuable improvements to our facilities and services.
In 2011, it seems like just about everything at Oktoberfest Brisbane will be bigger and better than ever before. We're holding the event in a larger space. Our Oktoberfest tent is a massive 80m, holding more tables and benches, and offering better stage views. Our Bavarian Corner area is bigger, too, and so is our beer garden. Plus there are more food outlets, more stalls, more rides and more kids' activities, meaning there's something to make visitors of all ages smile at Oktoberfest Brisbane 2011.
